John Opgenorth

Mr. Opgenorth represents banks and other institutional lenders and investors in a broad range of real estate transactions, focusing on the origination and structuring of loans and equity investments in multifamily housing developments financed with low income housing tax credits and tax-exempt bonds.

He has handled the origination and closing of hundreds of loans and equity investments in such affordable housing projects, including Bank of America’s debt and equity financing of the privatization of the San Francisco Housing Authority’s public housing portfolio, the largest transaction of its type in California history.

Mr. Opgenorth graduated with a B.S. in International Business and a B.A. in Spanish from Pepperdine University in 2004. He received his J.D. in 2009 from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where he participated in the Hale Moot Court Honors Program and the Small Business Clinic. Mr. Opgenorth has been placed on Super Lawyers Magazine’s list of Southern California Rising Stars for several years.
