Ms. Michail Shah represents commercial lenders and institutional investors in multifamily affordable housing and mixed use developments. In her practice, Ms. Michail Shah advises such clients on originating and structuring construction and permanent loans and equity investments involving low income housing tax credits, tax-exempt bonds, taxable bonds, housing subsidies and multiple layers of municipal and other governmental debt. She has handled hundreds of complex matters involving such loans and investments, including a major commercial bank’s financing of and investment in the conveyance and rehabilitation of the San Francisco Housing Authority’s public housing portfolio, the largest transaction of its type in California history.
Ms. Michail Shah has also advised developers and property owners in land use regulations, entitlements for real estate development projects and compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act.
Ms. Michail Shah received her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law with an emphasis in Public Interest Law and Policy. At UCLA Law, Ms. Michail Shah was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs. Prior to practicing law, Ms. Michail Shah graduated with an M.P.H. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Public Health and spent several years working with nonprofits engaged in gun violence prevention efforts. Ms. Michail Shah graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine.
